text concatenation

In Barcode, Text and Page elements it is possible to create dynamic texts by concatenating fixed information, values read from a data source to which the label group is linked, configurable counters and other dynamic information such as page numbers, label position, computer name or the Windows user name.

Labeljoy enables you to concatenate texts with complete freedom, creating free combinations of fixed texts, counters and references even by including several times the same type of information.

Depending on the type of element you are editing, in the Text tab the following buttons may be visible:

  • Field: available for elements of type Barcode and Text, only when in Full or Trial version.
When the group to which the element belongs to is linked to a data source, this button will pop up a menu listing all the available fields found in the data source, that contain textual or numeric data. Click on the menu items to add to the text one or more fields from the data source.
If the group isn't linked to a data source, a popup message will ask for confirmation before starting the Data link wizard.
  • Counter: available for elements of type Barcode and Text, only when in Full, Basic or Trial version.
Enables you to add one or more configurable counters that increment a given value for each new label belonging to the group.
  • Reference: available for elements of type Page element and Text, only when in Full or Trial version.
Enables you to add references to the page number, the total number of labels belonging to the group, information about the current layout, about the PC name or the current Windows user and more.
  • Preview: available for all elements, only when in Full, Basic or Trial version.
Enables you to view an example showing the final result of the concatenated text, the way it will show on labels.
