Text: this tab enables you to define the text to be rendered on the labels. It is possible to create compound texts containing fixed text, data source fields, counters, references.

Here, you can also set font style and size and apply text effects to parts of the text, using the rich text toolbar.

Note:
Labeljoy will only show True type fonts out of the list of installed fonts.

Pen: definition of the color used to fill the text element.

Outline: Set the size to a value greater than zero to enable outline definition controls. In this case the text is drawn with an outline color around the edges. It is also possible to define the size of the outline and the outline style (Behind, Empty and Front).
Line style and Dash style regulates how the outline is drawn

Style: enables you to choose between linear or circular (round).

• Linear text: when this option is selected, use the controls found in this frame to define vertical alignment, horizontal fitting, wrap text mode.
  It's also possible to define a Line height and define whether possible empty rows should be skipped. Skip Empty rows enables you to avoid empty rows that may be present when reading empty values from a data source.
• Round text: when this option is selected, use the controls in this frame to define the starting angle from which the round text will begin, the range of the text, and the style of the text.
• Antialias defines if the text is rendered using an antialias effect (default). In some cases, with certain combinations of font and size, you might get better results by disabling this option.

Background: definition of the back color of the text element.
Select Fill from the combo box to enable color definition controls, or Transparent to leave the background transparent.

Frame: definition of color, size, style and compound of the frame of the text element.
Select a value greater than zero to enable color definition controls, or leave at zero to leave the text element with no frame.

Note:
The option Adapt contents instructs Labeljoy to take the border size into consideration when rendering the element, shifting the content to ensure that the frame won’t overlap it.

Shape: definition of the element's shape.

• Ellipse: Select this option to give the element an elliptical or circular shape.
• Rectangle: Select this option to give the element a rectangle or square shape.
  Use the Roundness slider to optionally round the corners.
• Polygon: Use this option to give the element a polygonal shape.
  Use the Slides combo box to select the number of sides of the polygon and optionally, use the Star slider to convert the polygon into a star-shape.

Shadow: definition of the element's optional shadow.

• Style: Select Enabled to drop a shadow your text object.
• Angle: Definition of the angle with which the shadow will be offset from original elements.
• Distance: Distance of the shadow for the original elements.
• Size: Size of the shadow based on the original element.
• Blur: the shadow out-of-focus effect.

The Shadow areas frame enables you to specifically select a sub-element of the text and enable/disable shadow effects on specific elements.

Advanced: common tab to all elements that enables you to define the element coordinates, rotation, mouse action and name.
