QR Code generator

qr code generator

The QR code generator enables you to create a QR code symbol encoding information according to some of the most commonly used data exchange formats:

  • vCard: Encodes a vCard, including a subset of common fields supported by this format.
  • MeCard: Encodes a MeCard, including a simpler set of data for personal information exchange.
  • Email: Encodes the necessary fields to automatically generate an email message when the symbol is read.
  • SMS: Encodes the necessary fields to automatically generate an SMS message when the symbol is read.
  • Event: Encodes information about an event happening on a specific date/time.
  • WI-FI: Encodes information about a wireless network, to facilitate connections.
  • EPC: Encodes information to automatically generate a money transfer for banking institutions belonging to the European Payments Council.
  • Crypto: Encodes information to automatically generate a cryptocurrency transfer to a specific wallet.

Select one of the available formats to start the process.
Once the type of encoding is selected, a brief description will appear.

Fill the fields with the data you wish to encode.
At least one field must be filled to proceed to the next step.

In the last step a preview is shown, enabling you to scan it with a mobile phone or barcode reader and verify that all information has been properly encoded.

By clicking Ok, the new QR code symbol will be added to the label.

Note:
After the QR code is generated, you can freely change the symbology used to encode the information but not all symbologies will support the type of data encoded.
All 2D symbologies can safely encode the data generated by this wizard. You might be able to also use Code 128, even though the length of the data might generate a very large symbol.

LINKING DATA

The symbols generated with the QR code generator contain static data and are intended to simplify the assembling of the various formats, delivering a template that can be used to add dynamic data through text concatenation.
Once the symbol is created you can modify the generated string to include variable fields (Full and Server versions only), counters and references, just like any other string.
Just make sure you replace only the values found in the string and don't modify other format components.

Double click the barcode to bring up the editor.

Identify the value part you want to substitute with dynamic data and select it.

Select a field from the list, a counter or a reference to replace the static text.

Click Ok when done.

This will make your QR code dynamically change its contents based on the data source and the label position.
