LabeljoyNew version
You can connect rows you've copied, with no file at all. Copy the cells you want - in Excel, from a web page, from any program that copies rows of text - and connect the clipboard. In the Data connection wizard, choose Clipboard. There's no file to pick, so the wizard goes straight to the options: Step 2 of 4.
| Connection parameters | |
| Field separator | What separates the values on each line. Cells copied from a spreadsheet are separated by Tab, which is where it starts. |
| First row contains field names | On when you copied the column titles too. Off, the fields are called F1, F2 and so on. |
| How it's read | |
| Lines | Each line is a row; empty lines are skipped. |
| A different number of values | A line with more or fewer values than the first one is left out. So is a cell with a line break inside it, which splits into two lines. |
| Quotes | Read as they are, as part of the value. |
| Nothing copied | The wizard says Clipboard text is empty. |
Careful when you update the data: Labeljoy reads the clipboard again, and takes whatever is on it then. Copied something else in between? Copy your cells again first.
