Pharmazentral Nummer - the PZN - is the number every medicine sold in Germany has, and its barcode is on the pack: a Code 39 of the PZN, with "PZN -" and the number under the bars.

| What it holds | |
| Characters | Digits only. |
| Length | A PZN has 8 digits, the last one the check digit. Type the first 7 - a shorter number is filled out with zeros in front - or all 8, and Labeljoy checks the last one. |
| Check digit | Always there, worked out by Labeljoy. |
| Readable text | "PZN -" and the 8 digits: PZN - 12345626. |
An old 7-digit PZN becomes today's 8-digit one with a 0 in front: 1234562
is 01234562. The check digit stays the same. Type the 0 yourself: seven digits are read as a new PZN
without its check digit, and Labeljoy adds one.
The rest of the settings - text position, quiet zone, color - are in the Barcode section.
| What goes wrong | |
| Numeric only data expected. | The value has something other than digits. |
| Invalid check digit. | The 8th digit isn't the check digit of the other 7. |
| This number can't be a PZN: its check digit would be 10. | No PZN has these 7 digits - check the number. |
| Input data too long. | More than 8 digits. |
