Output
Your labels leave Labeljoy in two ways: you print them, or you export them to a file - a PDF, or a picture. Both work on the document on screen, and both come out exactly as the work area shows them.
| In this chapter | |
| The Print panel | Pick a printer, the copies, and which pages or labels to print. |
| Print start position | Carry on down a sheet of labels you've already partly used. |
| When the page does not match the printer | What the warning about paper sizes means, and what to do about it. |
| The Export panel | Save pages, label sets or single elements as files. |
| File formats | PDF, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, TIFF and BMP, and which one to pick. |
| Vector output modes | What goes inside a PDF: shapes, searchable text, or pictures. |
| Command line | Print and export without opening Labeljoy's window - from a script, a scheduled task or another program. |
The quick way. Ctrl+P prints the document on screen straight away, with the settings it already has, and Ctrl+E exports it the same way. Ctrl+Shift+P and Ctrl+Shift+E open the Print and Export panels instead. See Keyboard shortcuts.
How many labels come out. Every label set adds its own labels: the number you gave it, or one for each row of its data source. You can print or export all of them, or just some pages or some labels - both panels have the same choices.
| Before anything comes out, Labeljoy may ask | |
| A password | If the document is protected against printing and exporting. See Protecting a document. |
| How many labels | For a label set with Ask before print or export switched on, in the Label set panel. |
| What to put on the labels | For the values your labels ask for every time you print. See References. |
| Nothing, but it updates the data | A data source set to update before output reads its data again first. See Updating and removing a data source. |
Cancel any of these questions and nothing is printed or exported at all.
While it works. A short job just happens. A longer one shows a progress window after a couple of seconds, with a Cancel button. Cancel stops the job at the next page: when you're printing, the pages already sent to the printer still come out. Nothing tells you when a print is done - the paper does.
In a copy of Labeljoy that isn't activated, everything you print, export or save as an image carries a DEMO watermark across it, and the number of times you can save is limited. See Demo, activation and Care+.
| Other ways to print and export | |
| Joy | Joy, the AI assistant, can print or export for you. It always shows you what it's about to print, on which printer, and waits for you to say yes. |
| A print shortcut | Save print shortcut on the desktop, in the Save panel, puts an icon on your desktop that prints the document with a double-click. |
| File Explorer | Right-click a Labeljoy file and choose Print with Labeljoy - in Windows 11 it's under Show more options. |
| The right-click menu | Copy as image and Save as image... make a picture of an element, a label or a page, at screen resolution. |
