Labeljoy keeps itself up to date. Each time it starts, an activated copy checks whether there's a newer version, and if there is, the bell tells you so with Update available. You can also check any time: click Check for updates in the Help panel, or ask Joy, the AI assistant. What each version brings is in the Release notes.

Updates come with Care+. A monthly or yearly license includes it, so every new version is yours for as long as your license runs. With a perpetual license, new versions are yours while your Care+ subscription is active, and a version released after your Care+ expires can't be activated with your activation code. Once Care+ has expired, the bell still tells you when a new version is out, with Click here to renew Care+.; clicking the notification, like Check for updates, offers Renew Care+ instead of the download. Renewed? Restart Labeljoy, and updates are back. See Demo, activation and Care+.

What Check for updates says
No new updates available.	You have the latest version.
A new update is available	With the new version's number, and Do you want to download it and install it? Click OK to start the download.
Updates are included while your Care+ subscription is active	There's a new version, but your Care+ has expired. Renew Care+ opens the renewal page on the Labeljoy website.
Labeljoy could not check for updates.	It couldn't reach the Labeljoy server. Check your internet connection and try again.
The update is already being downloaded.	Wait for it to finish - its progress is in the status bar.
The update is ready.	It installs when you close Labeljoy.
Updates are being verified, please wait.	Labeljoy has only just started and is still checking. Try again in a few seconds.

Installing an update. The download runs while you work: the status bar shows Preparing download..., then how far it's got, then Update is ready. The bell then shows Update ready. Close Labeljoy - or click that notification, which closes it for you - and the installer starts. Windows may ask you to allow it to make changes; then follow the installer's steps, and start Labeljoy again when it's done.

Closing Labeljoy while an update is still downloading? It asks first - An update is being downloaded. - so you can choose No, keep downloading. A download you didn't install isn't kept: next time Labeljoy starts, it offers the update again.

A copy that isn't activated doesn't check for updates, and the Check for updates button shows up once it's activated.
