LabeljoyNew version
Labeljoy measures in inches or in centimeters. Every box that takes a length - paper, labels, gaps, margins, positions, padding - uses the one unit you've chosen, and shows it next to the number.
| Choosing the unit | |
| In the Settings | Units in the Settings: Centimeters - Use the metric system, Inches - Use the imperial system, or Both - Treat each file independently. It also picks the paper of a new document: Letter or A4. A first run starts in the unit Windows uses - inches in the United States, centimeters in most other countries. |
| Per document | With Both, each document keeps its own unit, saved in it. Double-click a ruler of the work area to switch. With either of the other two, the double-click tells you the unit is set in the Settings. |
| Typing a length | |
| Inches | Four decimals; the arrows step by 1/16 in. Click in next to the box for a list of fractions, 1/32 to 31/32: the whole inches stay and the fraction replaces the rest, so 2.3 in with 1/4 picked becomes 2.25 in. |
| Centimeters | Two decimals; the arrows step by a millimeter. |
| Numbers only | Type a number - not 1/2 or 10mm. Use the fraction list for fractions. |
| Limits | Most lengths go from 0 to about 3,937 in (9999 cm); a position can also be negative, to place an element partly outside its label. |
| A few boxes in other units | |
| pt | The thickness of lines, borders and grid rules, in whole points. A point here is a fine step - 1 mm is about 35 of them - so thin lines can be set exactly. |
| px | Cropping a picture, in the picture's own pixels - see Image. |
| % | Padding set as a share of the element. |
| ° | Angles - see Rotation. |
In inches, the status bar and the paper sizes show fractions, such as 10 1/2"; the boxes show decimals.
