Backgrounds

LabeljoyNew version

A background is the color behind something: behind everything in an element, or behind everything on a label. It's set with the color control, so it can be one color, a fade, or a color from your data.

Where it is
An elementBackground in its Properties. It fills the element's shape - a circle for a circle - and turns with it. A page element's background can't come from your data.
A labelBackground in the Label set panel. It fills each label, in the shape the Layout gives the labels.

Both start Transparent. The ⋮ menu next to Background has Copy color, Paste color and Reset all, which makes it transparent again.

A background is a color, not a picture. For a picture behind the rest, put an Image element under the others; for a pattern, a Pattern. The page itself has no background: the paper is the background. The Template image of the Layout panel is a picture behind the labels, but only on screen - it isn't printed.
